Ålands Skogsindustrier has purchased Metsä ja Energia Hemmilä Oy.
This is the second acquisition in southwestern Finland in a short time. “MEH is an interesting, profitable, and growing company that controls the entire chain from timber purchases and chip production to end customers,” commented CEO Anders Mattsson.
In 2023, Skogsindustrier acquired Ö-skog, which specializes in forestry and logging in archipelago environments. Now it further strengthens its presence in southwestern Finland.
Metsä ja Energia Hemmilä’s (MEH) operations cover timber purchases directly from forest owners, its own chip production and sales, mainly in the form of bioenergy, in the Turku region. The purchase also includes a significant fleet of machinery, including chipping equipment and trucks.
Now the operations will be integrated with Ö-skog and Skogsindustrier.
“Our goal is to continue developing the company and find additional growth opportunities,” says Anders Mattsson.
Metsä ja Energia Hemmilä Oy was previously owned by Pertti and Antti Hemmilä.
The company’s turnover in the previous fiscal year was 3.3 million euros.
“Åland remains our main market for timber purchases and production,” says Anders Mattsson.
Mergero acted as an advisor to Metsä ja Energia Hemmilä Oy in the transaction.
